March 2016 Missions Trip

This was Dr. Solverson’s first non-tourist trip to Honduras. He had been there as a student several times 15 years prior with his wife, Jo, a nurse practitioner, and friends. At that time they had met Peggy Stranges, a nurse who started Clinica Esperanza and they promised to come back and help after they were through medical training. By chance, the Solversons reconnected with Peggy at a mutual friend’s wedding, and the 2016 missions trip came out of that encounter! Of note, Dr. Solverson’s oldest son accidentally diagnosed his own near-sightedness while waiting for the water taxi to go to help at the operating room.
